How we make stories
Our team chooses and shapes every story. AI helps with voices, scripts, images, music and answers. This page lists where.
People first
Our team picks the places and the stories worth telling, researches them from real sources such as archives, local history and the places themselves, and decides how each story is told: the arc, the tone, the stops, the moments that deserve music. Before a story goes out, our team reviews it. How that works in our own studio is on behind the stories.
Where AI is involved
| Part | How AI helps |
|---|---|
| Narration | Storyteller voices are synthetic voices generated with AI. They are not recordings of real people, and they do not imitate real people's voices. |
| Scripts | AI helps us draft and adapt stories to different lengths, from a quick break to an afternoon. Our team edits and reviews them. |
| Images and video | Some scenes are generated or animated with AI, for example to bring an old photo to life or to show a street as it may have looked. Some people shown in these scenes never existed. |
| Music | Some music is composed with AI tools. |
| Answers | When you hold to ask, an AI model answers your question. You are talking to an AI, not a person. |
How we label it
- This page and our terms explain where AI is involved in Mini Locals, and Hold to ask is always an AI.
- In the European Union and the EEA, the app marks AI-made video with a "Video made with AI" note, and we are adding labels to more places in the app.
- Where our AI tools embed machine-readable marks in what they create, such as Google's SynthID, we keep them.
- We do not create content that makes a real living person appear to say or do something they did not. Historical figures may appear in scenes that are clearly told as stories.
Told for entertainment
Our stories are based on real places and real history, but they are told for entertainment: scenes can be dramatised or reconstructed, and dialogue may be imagined. AI answers can be incomplete or wrong. Please don't rely on them for your safety, health, money or travel plans, and check practical details like opening hours on site. If you spot a mistake, tell us; we fix what we get wrong.
Your data and AI
When you ask a question, it is processed by our AI provider (Google's Gemini models) only to give you the answer. We do not use your questions, your voice, your photos or any other personal data to train AI models, and we do not create voiceprints. Details are in our privacy policy.
The rules we follow
We follow the transparency rules of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act for AI interactions and AI-generated content, and the AI rules in our terms. Questions about our use of AI: hello@zaubar.com.
