Out and about
Stories about right here.
Every story is made for exactly where you are. Head out and a walk takes you from stop to stop, telling each place's story as you reach it.
There is no guidebook to read: the story is told in your ear.
- A route, and directions in your ear
- Each stop's story starts as you get there
- Walks show their length and stops before you start
At home
At home? Explore the whole world.
Watch short videos about places nearby and far away, made from real places and real history. Some bring old photos to life, some show a street as it may have looked.
Useful before a trip, too.
- Short videos, nearby and far away
- Made from real places and real history
- Search a place, or wander the map
The storyteller
Like a friend who knows the place.
It points things out
As you walk, the story tells you what to look at, like a detail on a building you would otherwise pass.
Music
Each story has its own music for the important moments.
Hold to ask
Hold the button and ask about what you see. An AI answers.
Length
Choose how long you have
Pick the time you have, from a short break to an afternoon, and the story fits into it.
After the walk
Replays
Every walk you finish is saved with your route and your photos. Play it back as a replay and share it with friends.
Most apps take you somewhere else. Mini Locals makes where you are the show.
San Francisco first
San Francisco is our first city
Our first walks are in San Francisco: Haight-Ashbury in the Summer of Love, the cable cars and the Painted Ladies. More places are coming.
1967
Haight-Ashbury
Free stores, a free clinic and bread baked in coffee cans: the summer a neighbourhood tried to share everything.
Since 1873
The cable cars
The world's last manually operated cable car system, running since 1873.
1890s
The Painted Ladies
A row of Victorian houses on Steiner Street, facing Alamo Square.

What is Mini Locals?
Mini Locals turns wherever you are into the show. Short, fun stories about the street you're on, the park you're crossing, the house you just walked past, told in your ear as you go, like a friend who knows the place. At home, you can explore the whole world with short videos about places nearby and far away.
What is free?
Everybody can listen for free, every day, no card needed. For unlimited stories, choose a Ticket or a plan; see our plans.
What is the difference between a Ticket and a plan?
A Ticket is a one-time purchase for 72 hours of unlimited stories. It does not renew. Explorer (monthly) and Pioneer (yearly) are subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel, and they start with a free trial of 7 days.
Do you track my location?
Only when you allow it and use something that needs it, like stories nearby or a walk. You can say no and search places by hand, or switch location off in your phone's settings at any time. We never sell your location or any other personal data.
How are the stories made? Is it AI?
Our team picks the places and the stories, researches them from real sources and shapes how they are told. AI helps us write, voice, illustrate and score them, and our team reviews what goes out. The full picture is on how we make stories.
