Accessibility
This statement describes how accessible Mini Locals is today and what we are still improving.
The service
Mini Locals is an entertainment service with short audio stories and walks about real places, and short videos for watching at home. You can use it in a web browser and in apps for Android and iPhone, start as a guest, and buy paid access on the web or in the app stores. Stories play as audio; walks add directions and a map; videos combine images, narration and music.
How we make it accessible
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA and the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) as implemented by the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG). On this website:
- pages work with a keyboard, have a "skip to content" link, visible focus and a logical heading structure;
- text has strong contrast, can be enlarged to 200 percent without loss, and adapts to light and dark mode;
- videos play without sound, start only when visible, never play if you prefer reduced motion, can be paused with a button, and have text descriptions;
- forms have labels, clear error messages and confirmation pages you can save or print;
- we use plain language and explain legal terms.
In the app, stories are audio-first, which works well with screen readers and for people who prefer listening to reading. Walks show distance and stops before you start.
What we are still improving
- Not all videos and stories have captions or transcripts yet.
- Some map views are visual and do not yet have a full text alternative.
- Walks follow public streets that we do not control; we cannot guarantee that every route is step-free.
